Some ways to start

  • To [name]

Hey bud, it’s Dad. This year I painted the fence, cried about 803 times and finally started the business. You’d have been out in the shed with me, handing me all the wrong tools. I miss you every single day.

Happy birthday, my girl. Your mum and I planted a lemon tree the week you were born, and this year it gave us its first lemon. I tell it about you every time I water it.

Footy season’s done, mate, and we lost again. I watched every game with your little jersey on the couch next to me. I’ll keep saving you a seat.

To Parker

Hey Parker, my little man! I still miss you like crazy. It's now been 6 weeks, and I still think about you every day, how big you would be now and what you'd look like. Mum and I renovated the bedroom, painted the wall green like your dinosaur rug, and our new bed we ordered looks amazing. Your weighted bear from your baby blanket arrived and it's been so nice to hold and snuggle you. We also went to Sydney and Dad got to drive on a race track in some race cars, it was so much fun! I feel like I'm catching up to the world again, but I still wish you were here. Work has been busy and lots of fun, I love telling people about you and how cute you are. I launched this really cool website today for other Dads and I'm super proud of it. I've been looking into ways I can work with families and kids, it seems to help when I see other little ones happy. Your cousins talk about you a lot and I wish they got to meet you. Your nursery is still the same, we want to set up a queen bed for guests but it's hard to change your room. I wish you got to see it. I love you so much buddy, Mum is recovering really well and overall we're doing great. Chat again soon mate. Love from Dad.

To Parker

Hey Parker, Looking back on the days and first few weeks after you passed, putting your empty car seat and pram back in the nursery was the second hardest day of my life. There's not a day that goes by that I don't miss you like crazy. I was so excited for my first Father's Day. Everything I do, my outlook on life and my world all stopped. It was bizarre watching the world continue on around us, whilst I felt like I stood still. Things are getting better and easier each day, but I can't stop thinking about how much better it would be if you were here with me. I love you so much, Dad.

Grandad still sets out an extra teacup on Sundays. We think of you every morning, and we’re looking after your Dad for you.

    From Grandma

  • To [name]’s Dad

I’ll keep saying [name]’s name, mate, every chance I get. Coffee next Sunday, same table as always.

Your cousins drew you a dinosaur this week and stuck it on the fridge. They talk about you like you’re just in the next room. We love you, little one.

To Parker

Parker, my darling nephew, We think about you every single day. Even though we only had you with us for such a short time, you have left such a big place in our hearts. Your cousins talk about you everyday and wonder what you would have been like — what you would have loved, what would have made you laugh, and whether you would have been a Collingwood or Richmond supporter! Your Christmas presents are still sitting in the cupboard, waiting for you. We haven’t quite worked out what to do with them yet, your cousins are still eager to give them to you and are waiting very patiently! We love you, Parker. We always will. And don’t worry about Mum and Dad — we’re helping to look after them for you. We’ll make sure they’re surrounded by plenty of love, laughter and probably a fair bit of family chaos too. You may not have had the chance to grow up with us, but you will always be part of our family, and your cousins will always know about their little cousin Parker. Love you forever, little man. Love, Aunty Nae, Uncle Ash and your cousins ❤️
